This contemporary residence located in an upscale neighbourhood in Bangalore and was designed for the architect's joint family.
The design juxtaposes core traditional values with contemporary aesthetics; and can be characterised by its use of vibrant colours, softened by calming clean lines of the space. The overriding minimalist form surrounds a central courtyard that is also reminiscent of a traditional model for joint Indian houses.
The structure allows the outside to be integrated into the interiors, which means plenty of natural light and air. This also gives an increased sense of space, only enhanced by skylights and large windows. This simple and functional floor plan creates large uninturrupted spaces where family and friends could come together, yet creates zones for privacy. The architect's own space acts as a house above the house that affords all the amenities in addition to a large terrace for personal gatherings and a lap pool.
